ELEC IQ · version 4.6.274 · last updated 2026-08-21

The short version

You can use the calculators as a guest, with no account at all. As a guest nothing is sent to us and nothing is stored on our server — your figures never leave your device.

An account is needed only for what an account is for: a cloud backup you can restore on another device, a profile, and the government and inquiries sections. You can register with an email and a password, or sign in with Google, Apple or Facebook.

The bill calculator runs on your device with no internet, and your readings stay on your device — unless you choose to upload a backup to your account.

No ads, no advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics, and no sale of data.

You can delete your whole account from inside the app, or from the deletion page on the web, at any time.

What we collect and why

Account: your name, username and email, and a hash of your password (never the password itself — nobody here can read it). Gender and date of birth are optional, and you may upload a profile photo.

Signing in with Google, Apple or Facebook: we receive your identifier, email, name and photo if one exists — nothing more. We never reach your contacts or your posts.

Phone numbers: the app never asks you for one and never sends anyone a text message. A phone number appears only inside the government section, where the accounts of electricity-department staff are created by the administration from an uploaded staff file, and the number is the sign-in identifier for those accounts alone.

For security: every sign-in session records the IP address, the device/user-agent and the time, so you can see and end your sessions and so we can stop password guessing — never for marketing and never shared.

A first-party usage counter (no third-party analytics): it records which section was opened, and a technical description of any crash — never your readings and never your location. Notifications, if you enable them, store a technical subscription identifier, not your name or number.

What stays on your device, and the backup

Your readings, saved bills, appliances and settings live in your browser storage on your device, and clearing your browser data erases them. This is true whether you are signed in or using the app as a guest.

That is why "upload a backup" is your own deliberate step: it is then stored on our server, tied to your account, so you can restore it on another device. It disappears when you delete it or delete your account.

Location

Location permission is requested in exactly one place: when you open "nearest electricity office", to sort offices by how close they are to you.

The coordinates are used on your device and then forgotten — never transmitted to anyone and never stored. Refusing the permission simply shows the list without distance sorting.

Camera

Camera permission is requested in exactly one place: the meter reader, which points your camera at your electricity meter and reads the number off the screen so you do not have to type it.

The reading is done entirely on your device. No photo, no video and no frame is ever uploaded, saved to your gallery, or kept after you close the reader — only the number you confirm is written into the calculator field, on your device.

Refusing the permission changes nothing except that you type the reading yourself.

Who outside of us can reach your data

We do not sell your data and we do not share it with any advertiser or data broker. These are the only parties your data passes through in order to run the service:

Data security

Every connection is over HTTPS only. Passwords are stored hashed with a salt unique to each account, never in plaintext, and nobody here can read them.

Sessions are short-lived with a rotating token, changing your password ends every other session, and rate limits stop password guessing.

Deleting your account, and retention

From inside the app: More → Profile → "Delete account" — your account, photo, backup and sessions are all erased.

Or on the web, without installing the app: the /delete-account/ page on the app site.

Retention: your account data for as long as the account exists, gone when you delete it; security logs for one year; usage and crash events for ninety days. The reason for deletion is an optional question — if you answer it, it is kept for one year and then deleted.

If you never created an account there is nothing of yours on our server to delete: clearing the app data on your device is the whole of it.

The employee and inquiries sections

These two sections are for the electricity directorates and whoever they authorize, and nobody creates their own account: the directorate uploads the accounts and their data from the admin panel. Each user sees only what they have been authorized to see.

This is an independent, unofficial app. It is not part of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity and does not represent it. Employment data belongs to the directorate that uploads it, so any request to access, correct or delete it goes to that directorate directly.

Children

The app is a household bill calculator and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13, and if we learn of an account belonging to a child under that age we delete it.

Changes to this policy

Any material change appears on this page with a new date and version number, and earlier versions remain in the repository history.
